Therapeutic Support (Residential)

The Residential Care & Support project is a vital component of the childcare center established by the Punuka Foundation, aimed at providing exemplary care and support to children with special needs. Operating within the foundation’s mission to promote access to justice and equality, this project focuses on catering to the needs of children with disabilities.

At the initiative’s core is the provision of world-class care and support services tailored to each child’s unique requirements. This includes not only necessities but also specialised therapy sessions conducted by trained therapists. These therapy sessions are designed to address the developmental, physical, and emotional needs of the children, fostering their overall well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The project operates within a week-day residential care model, wherein children receive care and support during weekdays, allowing them to return home to their families on weekends.

Additionally, the childcare centre includes a boarding facility capable of accommodating up to 50 children, ensuring that ample space is available to meet the needs of those requiring residential care. Through this project, Punuka Foundation endeavours to create a nurturing and supportive environment where children with special needs can thrive and reach their full potential.

Annual Walk for Super Special Children

The Annual Walk serves as a significant project of the Punuka Foundation, aimed at raising awareness and advocating for children with developmental needs, with a particular focus on conditions such as autism, Down syndrome, and ADHD, among others. This initiative is designed to shed light on the challenges faced by children with developmental disabilities and to promote inclusivity and understanding within society.

The walk is an annual event that takes place across various states in Nigeria where the Punuka Foundation maintains a physical presence. It serves as a platform for community engagement, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds, including families, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, and communities to participate in a collective effort to support children with developmental needs.

Through the charity walk, the Punuka Foundation seeks to raise awareness about the importance of early intervention, access to specialised services, and inclusive education for children with developmental disabilities. Participants in the walk are encouraged to actively engage in discussions, share personal experiences, and learn from experts in the field, fostering a greater understanding and acceptance of individuals with developmental challenges within their communities.
